Dark green cloth, lettered in gilt on front panel. 335 pp., ads at rear, frontis., b&w plates. The 3rd edition, according to the most recent preface (dated 1913); first issued 1899. Original boards show moderate shelf wear, with some surface marking and exposure at corners. Newly rebacked in nearly matching dark green cloth, lettered in gold foil on spine panel, with new endsheets. Former owner address inscription on front blank, else unmarked. Contents slightly toned, with occasional scattered minor soiling evident in margins, but otherwise intact. Graded conservatively at VG- due to some cosmetic blemishes, considerably enhanced by the sympathetic new backing, providing a sturdy and solid binding. Exceptionally scarce.
