INSCRIBED. Complete in three (3) volumes, uniformly bound in dark blue cloth, spine panels lettered in gilt, deckled text block edges with top edge in gilt. (A fourth volume, supplemental in nature, was issued in 1930.) Limited to 500 copies. Lightly rubbed spine extremities and corners, minor surface rubbing. Firm bindings, clean interiors. Two small indentations along fore-edges of Vol. I; minor surface stain to front cover of Vol. II.; all three volumes show former owner's name stamp on upper front flyleaf. Vol. I inscribed by R. B. Adam "To his friend / Louis B. Hart / from R. B. Adam / who very much admires / him for his devotion to the Grosvenor Library, / and loves him for his loveability / Oct. 21 1929." (The Grosvenor Library, in Buffalo, NY, was built in 1871 and demolished in 1974.) Generously illustrated with sepia plates. The front panel of each dust jacket has been neatly trimmed and tipped in at the front (after flyleaf and blank) of each volume, DJs otherwise lacking. From the library of Johnson scholar Terry I. Seymour, with his initials on the front flyleaf of Vol. I. Very scarce inscribed copy, relatively minor cosmetic faults.
