Book Condition: VG+

Mint-green cloth-effect paper covered boards, lettered in black. Slightly rubbed at corners and spine extremities, with slight binding lean likely original to issue. Lightly soiled along top front edge, with light spotting scattered over portions of both covers that seems likely to be a form of foxing resulting from the interaction of the glue used in binding on the surface paper, also slightly age-toned endsheets, otherwise solid Near Fine. Color illus. dust jacket is toned along spine panel and top/fore-edges of front cover, with some rubbing to joints, light soiling to front and rear panels, original publisher's price ($2.50) on front flap, still displays well in archival mylar. Vintage edition, though not a first (no explicit "First Printing" statement), early reprint advertising "The King's Stilts" (Seuss's preceding book) on the rear flap and mentioning only "Mulberry Street," "500 Hats," and "King's Stilts" on the front flap blurb, thus indicating issue prior to 1947, when Seuss resumed publishing.
