Tan cloth, very slightly rubbed at corners, slightly foxed endpapers. Dust jacket shows several closed tears along top edge, with some chipping at head of spine.456 pp., 322 b&w illustrations, 91 maps and line drawings. Revised, abridged, and "drastically rewritten" version of the author's Chinese Art, published in two volumes by Penguin, 1958. This edition, despite indicating 58 color plates on the dust jacket, includes b&w reproductions of all plates previously published in color, whether by Penguin or Thames & Hudson. It appears to have been a pirated Chinese edition. Still useful as a reference or working copy.
