Brown cloth, lettered in gilt. Moderately rubbed at corners, spine extremities, and along joints, with minor exposure at corners and abrasion along lower front cover fore-edge that has exposed underboard along an approx. 2" length. A few light surface marks. Small area of loss along front flyleaf fore-edge; flyleaf inscription identifies this copy as having been the property of the upholstery dept. of Dives, Pomeroy and Stewart (Reading, Berks County, PA). [iii],238 pp., errata slip to 1915 Revised Edition tipped in at p. 3, copiously illustrated with b&w and sepia-toned plates, engravings and other illus. set into text. A few annotations and/or illustrations here and there, nothing objectionable or intrusive. A lovely book, this copy having an interesting provenance to the pioneering gentlemen who came to Reading from Hartford, CT in 1876 to establish their elegant department store enterprise.
