22 An Illustrated History of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Civil, Political, and Military, from its Earliest Settlement to the Present Time, including Historical Descriptions of Each County in the State, their Towns, and Industrial Resources [Vol II (2)]
Egle, William Henry, M.D.
Harrisburg, PA: De Witt C. Goodrich, 1877. First Thus
Cloth 4to - over 9" - 12" tall. Near Fine.
Original copy, rebound in burgundy cloth, lettered in gold foil on spine panel, new endsheets, new head- and tail-bands, retaining original marbled text block edges. [ii],593-1204 pp., illus. Vol. II typically begins with p. 597, with Crawford County; this copy begins w p. 593, midway through Columbia County, for which we lack an explanation, other than to say that this copy is more than complete. Egle's history typically appeared in a single volume, but we have seen a limited number of two-volume variants, of which this copy is one (though unfortunately lacking its companion, Vol. I). Scarce in any form, this copy presenting as new, with note to rebinding, intact interior beyond 1" closed tear along top edge of main title. 031443
